Compassionate Therapy for All Ages

Attendance for Therapy Services: 

If you cannot attend your scheduled appointment, we require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice. Contact your therapist as soon as you know you will not make your appointment. Contact your therapist by phone, email, or through the Client Portal.

We offer automated appointment reminders if individual is interested, but strongly encourage individuals to be mindful of their scheduled appointments. 

What does a missed appointment mean? 

Missed appointments include:

1. Late Cancels – Cancelling with less than 24 hours’ notice.
2. No Shows – Not showing up for a scheduled appointment.
3. Late Arrivals – Arriving 15 minutes or more after your scheduled appointment time.

Missed appointment fee:

There is a charge for missed appointments.  This fee is your responsibility.  We cannot bill insurance for missed appointments. The fee as of August 1st, 2025, is $50 and is due before the next session occurs. This fee is subject to increase over time.

(Medical Assistance clients are not subject to this fee, per federal regulation.)

Missing 3 appointments within a 6-month period (late cancellation or no show appointment) or missing 2 schedule appointments in a row, will result in a discharge from services. 

Therapist will review the importance of maintaining regular attendance in therapy at the first session, these are the reasons that there is a cancellation policy in place to remain a patient at Roots of Healing:

• Making progress in therapy requires regular therapy appointments. Without consistency in treatment, progress becomes stagnant and it is difficult to see progress towards your individual goals for growth and healing.
• We have a limited number of openings for therapy clients. A scheduled appointment means that time is reserved only for you. Missed appointments or last minute cancellations means we cannot offer that appointment time to someone else. 
• We are unable to bill insurance for cancelled or missed appointments, which means your therapist does not get paid in for their time.
